Barans is passion
Wine merchant Simon Pols founded Barans in the late 1990s as an independent wine importer. In its short existence, Barans has proven itself to be exceptionally consistent and reliable. What began as a hobby has since become a professional endeavor, driven by the passion of a true amateur (French for "lover").
Barans is constantly discovering new and surprising wines and bringing them within your reach. Because Barans' motto is to enjoy, and above all, to let others enjoy.


Barans began its operations in France and... has stayed there. There appears to be special lead enough to discover in this ancient wine country to limit its own imports to this country for the time being. Barans primarily collaborates with smaller producers because that's where the surprises are most likely to be found. The wines are still made according to traditional methods, with modern technology being used where it complements them.

Barans has close contacts with winegrowers from almost all (wine) regions of France such as Bordeaux, Burgundy, Champagne, Alsace, Languedoc-Roussillon, Loire, Provence, Rôhne and south-west France.
