If your keywords match the user's search terms, your ad will be included in the auction, but the keyword match type specifies how exact a match you want.
In other words, match type determines how relevant your registered keywords and search terms need to be in order to display your ad.
Current match types
Before we dive into the details of this match type update, let’s take a moment to recap what match types have been available so far.
Before the update, the available match types usages of car owner database were "exact match," "phrase match," "modified broad match," and "broad match," and ads were displayed based on the relevance determined for each as follows:
Prerequisites: Keyword "vehicle inspection maintenance"
Exact match
"Exact match" is of course when the registered keyword and the search term exactly match, but if the meaning and search intent are the same even if the word order or words are different, your ad will be displayed even if there are spelling variations due to conversion errors.
Of all match types, you can narrow down the search terms that will display your ad the most.
Examples of ads that are displayed: "Vehicle inspection maintenance" and "Maintenance vehicle inspection"
Examples of ads that are not displayed: "Speed vehicle inspection maintenance"
Phrase match
As the name suggests, "phrase match" looks at the order of the keywords and search terms you set.
If the order of the search terms is reversed or another word is inserted between them, your ad will not be displayed.
Examples of ads that will be displayed: "Speedy vehicle inspection and maintenance" "Vehicle inspection and maintenance motorcycle"
Examples that will not be displayed: "Maintenance vehicle inspection" "Maintenance shop that can perform vehicle inspection"
