Thakurgaon Correspondent: BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has accused the Awami League of creating a political and electoral crisis.
He said, "There will be elections ahead, and if you say out loud that there is no crisis, it will not happen. The crisis must be resolved through discussion. Dialogue must be held. There will never be a fair, c level contact list free and impartial election under a party government," he said.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir made these remarks while exchanging Eid greetings with journalists at his residence in Kalibari, Thakurgaon town on Thursday afternoon.
Mirza Fakhrul described the government's decision not to allow party leaders and activists to meet Khaleda Zia in prison on Eid as an authoritarian attitude, saying that the opposition party is not allowed to take to the streets or hold meetings. Despite this, the BNP continues to protest peacefully with the people.
Leaders and activists of Thakurgaon district, Sadar upazila, municipal BNP, Jubo Dal, and Chhatra Dal were present at the time.
Staff Reporter: Imrul Kayes has taken all the preparation a top-order batsman needs to participate in the Asia Cup cricket stage. The training camp of the Tigers' 31-member preliminary squad is scheduled to start at the Mirpur Home of Cricket from August 27. However, Imrul has not wasted any time after returning home after the West Indies tour. He has been sweating it out in personal practice.
He has also worked hard on his fitness. The left-handed batsman has made himself fully fit for the international arena.
Imrul spoke about his current condition at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in Mirpur on Sunday (August 26).
He said, "I always prepare myself. Whenever I get an opportunity in the national team, it is important to be ready to utilize that opportunity. I always try to keep myself fit. As you know, I did not get a chance to play any matches even though I went on the West Indies tour. However, I practiced until the start of the Eid holidays. Sometimes I went outside Dhaka for treatment. I practiced as long as I was here."
However, time is not on Imrul's side at all. He has not been in the ODI team for almost a year due to lack of performance. Although he was in the Test squad for the recently concluded Caribbean tour, he was not called up to the playing XI for a single match.
Due to his long absence from the national team, his order in the national team has also become shaky. The team management has lost faith in him not only as an opener with Tamim Iqbal but also at number three. However, Imrul claims that he is not able to play in his preferred order, which is why he is not able to show his brilliant performance with the bat.
However, Imrul hopes that if he gets the chance to partner Tamim again, he will be able to show the same performance as before. In this regard, he said, "Look, if you can play in one position continuously, then you can adapt yourself to that position. If you move a little, you have to start again. There are some problems. I always like playing with Tamim (Iqbal) because our partnership is very good. We are lucky that our partnership is good and we have scored many big runs together. If there is another opportunity, I will try to bring back that performance."
This year's Asia Cup is set to begin in the United Arab Emirates from September 15. Bangladesh will face Sri Lanka in the opening match. The tournament will continue until September 28.
He said, "There will be elections ahead, and if you say out loud that there is no crisis, it will not happen. The crisis must be resolved through discussion. Dialogue must be held. There will never be a fair, c level contact list free and impartial election under a party government," he said.
