That envisages the possible blocking of popular services and social networks. YouTube, Facebook and Twitter threatened to shut down if access to information from Russian media was restricted based on race, nationality and political affiliation.Russian operators are asking deputies to find an "alternative technical solution" and have proposed amendments to the second reading of the bill on a single provider of television content on the Internet. This is reported by Kommersant.

After the bill is adopted, Roskomnadzor will determine the single content provider for Internet platforms on a competitive basis. The Vitrina TV project, created by the National Media Group (NMG), has every chance of becoming such a monopolist in the field of online broadcasting, having introduced its own software, for which operators of communication and paid thailand whatsapp number list Internet broadcasting will have to pay.

Representatives of leading telecommunications companies, including MTS, VimpelCom, MegaFon, Tricolor and ER-Telecom, sent a collective letter on October 5 to the head of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, Alexander Khinshtein, asking him to consider an “alternative technical solution” for the implementation of activities and distribution of TV channels on the Internet.

Previously, operators have already criticized the bill, noting that with the emergence of a mandatory single supplier, existing operator companies that are doing well in the Internet broadcasting market risk losing not only part of the funding from advertising displays, since they will be forced to connect the developed single software, but also their established client bases.

As an alternative, operators suggested using DRM (Digital Rights Management) solutions for content protection, rather than the unified software from Vitrina TV, which are being successfully developed by Microsoft, Apple, Google, Adobe and other international leaders in the field of developing information technologies for working on the Internet. Discussions are in their second week, but a number of issues, in particular, about technologies for managing permissions to show content in each region and options for implementing “non-linear advertising,” still require further work.
