Viktor Lavrenko and Vladimir Chernyshev, the latter developing algorithms for "Nigma" at Stanford University. The search engine is named after the genus of spiders Nigma of the family Dictine weavers. "Nigma" is a metasearch engine, and its search algorithm has several features. The search is conducted not only using Nigma's own index, but also through the indexes of Google, Yandex, Yahoo! and other search engines.
